Frequently asked questions
What does ready-to-build (RTB) mean for a solar farm?
A solar farm is ready-to-build when it has land rights, a grid connection offer and planning consent in place. At that point it can be funded and construction can start.
How long does it take to get a solar farm to ready-to-build?
With good screening, a site can often reach ready-to-build in around 18 months, though the grid connection and planning can stretch that. Taking a solar farm all the way to built and generating usually takes two to four years.
Who handles grid connections for solar farms in the South West?
Most of the South West is covered by National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED). We prepare the application, manage the process and keep track of the offer and its milestones.
Do you work on sites outside Devon, Cornwall and Somerset?
Our consultancy focuses on the South West, where we know the grid, planners and landowners well. Our software works on sites anywhere in the UK.
