A grid connection you can build on.
We check the grid early, manage your connection application and keep your offer and its milestones on track, anywhere in the UK.
From first check to firm offer.
The grid is often the hardest part of a project. We're based in the South West and know NGED well, and we work with network operators across the UK.
Early grid check
We look at headroom, the nearest substations and the likely connection route before you spend on land or surveys.
Connection applications
We prepare and manage applications to the network operator for your area, with the detail they need first time.
Offer reviews
We check every offer: the date, connection point, costs, securities and conditions. Then we help you decide and accept in time.
Queue milestones
We track the milestones that keep your place in the queue, so nothing slips.
Gate 2 readiness
We get projects ready for the reformed queue: land secured, planning moving and the evidence in place.
G99 paperwork
G99 application forms and supporting documents prepared and kept up to date.
Check. Apply. Review. Hold.
Check
We find out early whether the grid can take your project, and roughly what it could cost.
Apply
We prepare a complete application, so it is not held up by missing information.
Review
We go through the offer line by line and tell you plainly what it means for the project.
Hold
We keep on top of milestones and deadlines, so you keep your place in the queue.

Frequently asked questions
What is grid headroom?
Headroom is the spare capacity at a substation, or on the lines around it, to take new generation. Little or no headroom can mean a later connection date, higher costs or limits on how much you can export.
Who handles grid connections?
It depends where the site is. Each area has its own network operator: in the South West, Midlands and Wales it is National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED). We work with whichever one covers your site.
What is a Gate 2 grid offer?
Under grid connections reform, projects that are ready and needed get a Gate 2 offer and a firm place in the queue. Being ready means the land is secured and the project is moving. Projects that are not ready yet can apply in a later window.
Does my project need a transmission impact assessment?
In England and Wales, most projects under 5MW no longer need one. At some grid supply points the old 1MW threshold still applies, so it is worth checking for your site.
What is G99?
G99 is the standard for connecting generators, such as solar farms and batteries, to the local electricity network in Great Britain. Most solar farms and larger rooftop systems need a G99 application.
Can you help with a site that already has a grid offer?
Yes. We can review the offer, check the milestones and costs, and help you decide what to do before the deadline to accept.
Got a site that needs a grid connection?
